A DOG IS FOR LIFE!

A good friend of mine has some sprocker pups available, which will be ready in mid-November. The stud is my friends cocker, from good FTC bloodlines. He tells me they will have their tails docked, dew claws removed, be microchipped and given their first vac and be wormed.
There are 2 x liver bitches

In the attached pictures both parents can be seen. When ready to leave the parents, they will be £900 each. Serious enquiries to Jason at jason.nwfc@outlook.com

TRWYDDEDAU PYSGOTA

From the 15th of January 2023 you will no longer be able to purchase an EA/NRW licence to fish, at a Post Office. It is suggested that only 14% of the rod licence sales in Wales (5,500 licences) were purchased at a Post Office. Your options now will be to buy on-line or by calling a dedicated phone number – 0344 800 5386 – Monday to Friday 0800 hrs to 1800 hrs.
This is perhaps indicative of the changes currently taking place within the Post Office, since it became a trading company, as against an organisation which has an emphasis for public service!

WILDFISH.

Nick Measham CEO of Wildfish, has told members in a Newsletter why there has been a change of title from the “Salmon& Trout Conservation” which was funded in 1903. This was felt as broadening the charity’s appeal across all ages and appeal. It will give a platform to protect salmon, sea trout and other species more effectively. If a river is fit for salmon, Nick says, it is fit for all.
With the Newsletter arrived one of the best “Member Updates” I have seen, the contents addressing Drought – Riverfly Census - Salmon Farming – Smart Rivers and the Auction.

WELSH FISHING TOURISM

At the recent Welsh Game Fair, which saw 10,000 visitors attending the world casting champion Hywel Morgan, in addition to demonstrations over the three days of the Fair said that the fishing industry in Wales needs “boots on the ground”! Compared to Ireland and Scotland, Wales lacks a dedicated organisation to push tourism and the country pursuits which Wales has to offer.
Hywel went on to say “We have top tier river, coastal and mountain lake fishing here for a myriad of species such as sea trout, brown trout and grayling. Our fishing is is much more affordable, compared to the rest of Britain and it is far simpler to purchase day tickets”.
I agree with all that Hywel said (JNH)
By a coincidence the (commercial publication) Fishing News on the 8th of September ran a headline – “Researchers advise Cornish fishermen to “embrace tourism”. To read that full report visit bit.ly/3cAIPo1

I would be interested to publish any thoughts which you might have.

AND FINALLY.

The October edition of Fly Fishing & Fly Tying has a “must read” article in which Shaun Leonard, the Director of the Wild Trout Trust, is featured. Shaun talks about his views on various aspects of fish and fishery management. I particularly liked (and share) his view on how we should view our rivers –
”Being able to fish is the rewarding privilege of caring well for the river”

Enjoy your grayling fishing!
